US-56 from US-59 to Baldwin City chip and seal work started today and should finish by early next week, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation - Northeast Kansas. Pavement markings will be replaced once the seal has aged for 2-4 weeks so it will only have temporary centerline in place for a few weeks.

KDOT is chip sealing and not doing a full overlay because of the potential future reconstruction project on this segment.

For more information on the larger construction project planned, please see https://ike.ksdot.gov/us56-douglas-county.
