At approximately 4:30pm on Tuesday, April 1st, 2025, two Baldwin City Police Department officers returning from an administrative assignment responded to a call regarding two animals at large in the 1200 block of Miami Street. While speaking with witnesses about the aggression they’d seen with the two dogs, one animal re-approached the group and lunged at an officer aggressively. The officer was forced to discharge his weapon once into the animal, leading to the dog’s death. No other injuries resulted from the incident.
