Our Public Works crew has been working all weekend to keep the roads as clear as possible. Here's where we're at as of 1pm Monday, January 6:

Nine Public Works employees plus two extra city employees began work at 4:30am to clear City streets. They expected to wrap up by approximately 1pm.

  • All streets inside city limits have been opened and widened twice.
  • Sanders went over the plowed streets to help with traction. Many roads are still very slick, including Highway 56. As a reminder, the Highway is maintained by the State.
  • Plows will run all the streets again tomorrow morning to widen them again.
  • Crews will continue to work throughout the week as needed, depending on snow melt and slush build up.
  • Plows will continue to add to snow piles over the next few days. NOTE: This can cause a dangerous scenario for any children playing in snow piles. Please, please keep in mind that the plow drivers may be back at any time and may not see children playing, no matter how much caution they use.

We want to extend our thanks to each public employee and first responder out in the nasty weather this weekend, those who work for the City and those who work for area agencies. We see you and appreciate you!
