Council Meetings Move to New Permanent Location October 1, 2024

September 27, 2024

Return to Newsroom.

City Council meets every first and third Tuesday at 7:00pm, and as of October 1st, the meetings will take place at a new address.

With the new Community Center opening at 712 Chapel Street, Council Meetings will now be held in a room specially designed for board meetings and forums.

A raised dais, smart mics and cameras, and large screens for the audience to view Council agendas and documents are a few of the amenities the Community will enjoy in the new location. The space is equipped with sound dampening panels to control echoes and will allow a more professional livestream for virtual audiences.

City Council has met in the Library’s Activity Room ever since the Library addition was built in 1992. The City is grateful to the Library for the years of gracious hosting, and also grateful to be able to return the room to the Library’s control for event programming and rental scheduling.

The Recreation Commission offices are relocating to the Community Center beginning October 1 as well, from their former office at 705 High Street. Programming, scheduling, and rentals for the building will all be handled by the Recreation Commission. For more information or to schedule, you may visit baldwinrec.org.

Join City officials, donors, the Recreation Commission, and community center planning committee members on Saturday, October 5th, for an open house at the new Community Center, located at 712 Chapel Street. The building will be open for tours from 1-5pm, with remarks and a ribbon cutting at 2pm. Refreshments will be served.
