Part of Baldwin City experienced a temporary power outage this morning due to a ground fault on a transformer in the 400 block of 4th Street.

The initial outage caused approximately a 20 minute outage in a two-block radius while city staff investigated.

When power was re-engaged, the main line fuse blew and tripped the northeast circuit, which goes from approximately High Street up to the Lake Road on the east side of 6th Street. Per protocol, staff drove along the lines to determine there were no further ground faults before re-engaging the power. This process took about 20 minutes.

Customers in the larger area were out of power for around 20 minutes while the two block radius had around 40 minutes of total outage.
