UTVs and micro-utility trucks now must be registered and inspected by the Baldwin City Police Department before they are legal on city streets.

Baldwin City Council approved new rules for UTVs on August 16, 2022. UTVs and micro-utility trucks now must be registered and inspected by the Baldwin City Police Department before they are legal on city streets.

Requirements for registration include: 

* Liability insurance for the specific vehicle you are operating.

* Valid driver’s license.

* Initial registration fee of $50. Annual renewal after initial registration is $25.

Baldwin City Police Department will start enforcing UTV registration beginning March 1, 2023. Two UTV inspection events are offered on Saturday mornings prior to the enforcement start date: January 21, and February 4th. These events will be from 8am-12pm at the Police Department, located at 203 1st Street.

After February 4th, UTV inspections will be offered at the Baldwin City Police Department office during regular vehicle inspection hours which are Tuesday and Thursday ONLY, 9-12 and 1-4.
