In relation to aid rendered during lockdown at BHS during student arrival, 12/2/2022

Baldwin City Police Department was called to the school for a trespassing incident at about 7:33am, during student arrival. Lockdown was initiated by USD348 administration per protocol, and our officers were able to locate the individual just outside the High School by 7:40am.

Our officers are familiar with the individual, who was cited for trespassing. We are following up with the apparent underlying health issues that prompted the intrusion and as always working closely with school administration. We’re also in close contact with our mental health resource partners in Lawrence.

Nothing is more important to us as a local police department than the safety of our school staff and students, and we know lockdown initiation can cause alarm in its own way. USD348 student services team is the best of the best, and we highly recommend reaching out to them if your student should need support in this matter. Please feel free to reach out to us as well, and we’ll gladly help you connect to the best resources we have available.
