Public Meeting: Historic District Survey Report

Between January and April of 2023, the Douglas County Heritage Conservation Council (HCC) conducted an intensive historic resources survey of downtown Baldwin City. A public information meeting will be held to share the survey findings and answer questions to property owners and others interested in this project. The meeting is open to the public.

The study consisted of:

2. Field survey

3. Project report

• Stan Hernly, Megan Bruey, and Jan Shupert-Arick of Hernly Associates conducted the survey.

• The survey focused on buildings/structures at least 50 years old.

• The goal was to identify architecturally, historically, or culturally significant buildings and structures.

The study area included approximately 45 historic resources, bounded by:

9th Street (west), 6th Street (east), Grove Street (north), and the alley south of High Street.
