The Baldwin City Police Department was dispatched to a one vehicle accident at about midnight last night in the 300 block of Washington. The vehicle apparently left the roadway and struck a power pole shearing the pole in two. The driver of the vehicle was identified as a 19 year old Baldwin City resident who suffered minor injuries.

Alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor in the accident and the 19 year old male was arrested and booked in to the Douglas County Jail for DUI, Open Container and Possession of Alcohol by Minor.

One residence experienced a power outage due to the incident. Our electric linemen responded to replace the pole and re-stretch the lines from 1am until 6am, allowing our apprentice to get some excellent experience.
